I don't know why Hero is being attacked so eagerly... as far as I've seen he's the one who just tried to express his opinion and didn't even try to force it on you. He also maid claims I see as resonable; One vote might not represent all the voters, but as far as I know, that's why things get decided by majority rule when there's a voting. Majority does represent majority... and the majority of Jump readers seems to like battle manga best at the moment.

 

Then again, it is hard for a romcom to survive, if not for the votes, then for the obvious plot. I've read a few romcoms and I can easily predict what is going to happen next in the chapter after few pages, because the author is almost forced to follow a strict pattern. (Or that it seems to me.) Whereas battle mangas seem to be more free in their plot choices, if if not totally.

Also I started the anime because of this and it really doesn't do the VN justice, just like you guys have mentioned. I was left with so many questions that only the VN could answer like the terms or reasoning some people had for certain actions. Did they hurry the story too much or was it only me >.>

No, what happened was that they did what they always try to do with anime adaptation of multiple route VNs (see Clannad as another example): they take the main heroine route and they build in elements of other routes so as to cover almost the entire VN. This worked for Clannad, not for Fate. I personally find that most answers are given in the last route, Heavens Feel, but this route and Fate, the "main" route, hardly mix together. So they tried to take what they could and build it in the anime, resulting in a kind of halfassed Caster arc... All in all they didn't do a bad job, it's just the three routes are not meant to be mixed together

Btw, is Fate/ Stay Night worth it? I was thinking of trying it out but it seems so long...

But I stopped midway since I already watched the anime and movie which covers the two routes out of three available in the game [(?)information accuracy is questionable, since I never finished it]
Maybe those who finished it can tell you...

Definitely worth it! Compared to the anime where the three routes are somehow mixed together it gives a more natural feel to it by playing them separately, and the story is just GREAT in my opinion. Only problem, yes, it's long, I have played it for 4d and 17 1/2 hours (so more than 100 hours) to get all the scenes (take five hours out if you don't care about all the cg). Actually I just installed realta nua patch and discovered that there are other pics there weren't before, so I'm starting all over again.
Still if you are interested try it out, it's definitely worth your while
