Can Part 1 and Part 2 characters beat a Ranker?

Food for thought.

Before we begin, here's a history of notable Regular vs. Ranker battles shown so far.

Part 1 - Quant v. Hatsu
=> Quant toys with Hatsu and still curb stomps him.

Part 1 - Quant v. Androssi and Baam
=> Even with Androssi having Narumada, Baam doing his freezing maneuver, and Quant being restricted by test rules, the Ranker was still stronger than the pair (as evidenced by Androssi dealing almost no damage to Quant, even with an ignition weapon).

Part 1 - Ren v. Anak Jr. and Androssi
=> Ren toys with the pair even while they had Black March and Green April. Curb stomp ensues.

Part 2 - World's Greatest Shinsoo Competition
=> Horyang (6k, but should be at least > 12k since he's stronger than Rapdevil. Possibly > 30k if he was seriously thinking of killing Yeon)
=> Yeon (22k, but should be much higher if she hit properly),
=> Prince (26k)
=> Viole (135k, might be holding back)
=> Love (13.2 M)

Part 2 - Love v. Viole
Note: Love is distracted by Viole's talent the entire time.
Note: Love is holding back the entire time.
=> 1st round: Few moves displayed. Love shows that he can clearly move faster than Viole.
=> 2nd round: Viole freezes Love for a short moment while landing his delayed shinsoo blast. Love recovers and proceeds to crush Viole with his moves.
=> 3rd round. Viole copies all of Love's moves in the previous round, forcing him to retreat for a while. In the end, Love freezes Viole and snatches the connector. Technically, it should be Love's victory.

Now that 5 years have passed, there's no doubt that everyone has powered up a bit. Assuming that characters from Part 1 are still together and joins with the current team from Part 2, do you think they'll finally be able to overpower a Ranker? Consider the characters that the team would consist of:

-Baam (Viole)
-Koon Agero Agnis
-Androssi
-Anak
-Hatsu
-Rak
-Laure
-Ship Leesoo (for his brains, not combat potential, though he shouldn't die as easily now)
-Sun Woonare
-Hong Chunhwa
-Horyang
-Yeon
-Prince
-Akraptor

And others. Akryung isn't included since he hasn't participated in any team activities and seems to only have intentions of getting Rachel up the tower. Rachel is supposed to be pretending to be immobile.

I believe Viole didn't use his full power on Love, but he lost at the end.

They'd stand a pretty good chance, but it depends of which Ranker are you talking about. Some Rankers are weaker than others.

In a 1 vs 1 against Quant, people like Hatsu, Androssi and Laure stand a good chance too, I'm not sure about Viole(Of course, I'm not talking about Current Quant, we don't know how much power he have now)

Btw, when did Viole "stopped" Love? I don't remember about something like that.

I'm pretty sure Love was holding back in the Shinsoo competition. All he did was place his palm on the machine and scored a full 3 M

Actually, regulars beat a ranker already. twice.

Team A: Koon got Anak out of Quant's reach for good. Quant was only able to catch Anak because losing the game was in interest of Koon himself, who provided a "lift" (that sleepy wave controller). What a humiliation for the ranker.
Team B: Quant lost his fight with Androssi/Baam. "Red panties. Bold. Wait... This isn't the badge?!"

Quant still would have defeated the pair if Androssi didn't resort to her trick.

"it's not a victory if you used your brain"? If Quant can't tell panties from a badge, it's his problem.

What I'm asking if they can fight a Ranker on equal terms, not during a test when the Ranker is severely restricted by rules.

Though, I will admit the part with Androssi's trick was an oversight on my part.

If you're talking about Quant, they can definitely can fight on equal terms.

^ That.

If you're talking a fight to the death, I have to guess no. Depends on the ranker, but prolly no. SIU said in one of his afterwords that Yeon is peerless among the Part 2 team (excluding Viole). Yeon < Viole. Viole < Love. So apparently the most badass character on the Part 2 team can't beat Love.

From Part 1: Anak and Androssi were the strongest. Anak < Androssi. Androssi still couldn't beat a comparatively weak ranker like Quant; not nearly. Now, who knows. Still, probably not.

People are underrating Quant ... he was pretty much banned from using any shinsoo including body strengthening(only 1 use per and he was forced to waste it). Imagine if Love had restrictions anywhere near that ... Viole would have wiped the floor with him. Literally 90%+ of a rankers combat ability is probably based off shinsoo or shinsoo-reinforced techniques. Considering Quant is classified as a flame-user and we didnt see any flames at all ... so yeah. Quant isnt that weak(as far as rankers go imo, obviously high rankers far outclass him) ... he is however very simple minded.

The problem atm for our non-rankers in fights vs rankers is the gap in strength as pointed out by Love ... he could freeze Viole for several seconds whereas Violes freeze only worked for a split second. Its the same gap in strength between Viole and Yeon ... its a gap that makes a power difference completely overwhelming.

^ Yeah I have to agree with this. Whlst Quant is cutting through the regular they become aware that what he's doign isn't fighting them, it's testing them. If his goal had been to kill it's implied it would be a slaughter. That's with lots of limitations: so little shinsoo its basically just his physical body he's relying on.

While I agree with the power gap thingy, Love would've won even if he was unable to use Shinsoo, Rankers bodies are naturally incredibly strong from climbing the Tower. Quant could've easily killed Baam and Androssi, but he wasn't trying to, he just wanted to end the game. My point is all together the Part I and Part II characters might stand a chance, but as Ren stated it would take mere seconds to kill a room of Regulars with Shinsoo, the power gap between Regular and Ranker is huge in most cases, therefore no they can't beat a Ranker.

I think that you people mistake something; You use Viole's growth rate as an analogy.
Imo, the characters of Season 1 cast have made little progress in terms of power. Sure, they have gotten stronger, but not that strong.

But what about 1 Irregular? XD I don't think he would be able to kill that!

Ren had no idea about a certain somebody's natural armour to that very form of attack, no. Otherwise, he'd've not said that in quite such definitive terms.

some random lightbearer ranker maybe, But I don't see them taking on any, I repeat, ANY fisherman ranker.
They probably couldn't even scratch him when he goes full blast shinsoo reinforcement. Half the team would die within the first seconds...

What if that Irregular was Rachel (being the least useful of the Irregulars) :P?

Sudden thought: we've never actually seen her resist a shinsoo barrier or attack (if she had those tests, it was off-camera... and I'm betting she was actually tested, regardless of her whole getting cosy with the Coffee Machine thing). Ho's knife was physical, and the injury could quite well have been part of the plot rather than just incorporated into it (there was always risk), as she darned well knew the guy was up to something (and probably not just down to Agero). Ouch, I wouldn't do that if you paid me! Hmmmm...

How do we know she has the shinsoo resistance of a damp meringue? There's really nothing to go on for either surpassing strength or crushing weakness. Unless you want to try tossing Headon across the room in a trust game, that is... ;)

I didn't say anything about her Shinsoo related abilities, but compared to the other Irregulars she's useless (she's playing cripple, she obviously can't do anything useful)

My bad. :) However, I'm in the same camp as you... if she's really a cripple, call me an onion*. ;) Heck, it's a big camp: we have lots of company. :P Mind you, as a Lighthouse Keeper, you shouldn't really need to e.g. do a lot of running in front of your victim ...I mean, "friends"... a lot. <_<

Hmmm: it's probably the very rare climber (read: Phant) who can even think about taking on a Ranker in serious-mode when they're still under the 40th Floor. Whoever they are.

In a 1 on 1 i doubt there is any Regular that can take on a ranker other than Hwa Ryun(Since she is someone Headon chose to guide Baam) who might herself be a ranker....

Koon uses puzzles and utilises all available pawns to win.So u cant really call him a victor in a 1 on 1 unless he has grown preposterously strong in these 5 years

Androssi might have a good chance of beating one if she gets her hands on a 13 month series though, since her stats were the best among the stat cards released by SIU...

Viole's growth has not been fully revealed yet and we all know that while Viole was comfortably learning Love's attacks Love was not serious at all.But if it went on the way it was going Viole would have possibly outgrown Love's techniques...similar to how he learned to use Quant's techniques more effectively within minutes in Part 1

The whole Regular beat a Ranker thing might have been done by FUG to make it easier for Viole and Wangnan (supposing he is the prince) to go through the above floors since the other rankers might want to avoid a direct confrontation due to the over bloated mystery around Viole (unless its a character like Quant i.e)
