The Language filter for homepage etc. is somewhere in Grumpy's long list of things to do.

It has been suggested countless times now, Grumpy is aware of it and will implement it when he has the time.

Edit: Announced here, but yet to be implemented.

YAY!!!

Hope he will create it soon, It is annoying when excited waiting for something after that a status update shows another country's update :P

This thread didn't really give any new information.

The way I see it It's unlikely to happening soon - that's what this topic is for in the first place, and I hope it stops people from making a topic about it every day. That's the only purpose this topic has...

I second this, times infinity. I want to filter out other languages besides English. It's irritating to see a series updated only to find out an old chapter has been translated to some other language instead.

Edit: I now use a small stylesheet to hide non-English language releases: https://github.com/slikts/dotjs/blob/master/batoto.net.css
I'll also make a way to filter followed titles in the update feed, since that feature can't be fixed so easily from client-side

Just so that it is not forgotten, it would also be great if it was possible to select multiple languages and not just one. If the English readers are annoyed by the other languages it would also be nice to think to those whose native language is not English and who like reading comics in their mother language too.

I'm not bothered personally. I think the follow page's filter suffices.

Except that you aren't already following comics that you haven't heard of. A lot of people use the Homepage for discovery of new comics.

It definitely shouldn't be hard to implement, I presume a small modification more or less to the existing filter function would suffice and maybe add a 'preferred language' on the profile page.

Maybe some thing in are profile opinions for language that way they have to sign up and you can see how many people use what languages to help scanners and translators see how many people use which languages.

+1 that's exactly what I came into suggestion forum to ask for. Maybe when clicking follow, an extra option to show which language to follow.

Glad I read this before I made a post. I believe it'd be a great and highly ergonomic addition to the site.

If you still in the middle of introducing the feature, it would be nice to be able to filter the releases that are already in your "follow" list. Like, I'm following this manga only in this language or only from this group.

The absence of this feature is the only reason I don't use batoto. Until its added, I am suck with mangahere. Right now, I find the front page to be mostly unusable. Please fix this since I would prefer to support batoto

That's a pretty shallow reason to not use Batoto. This feature, while it would be very useful and is highly sought-after, should not be the deciding fact in whether you support a good cause that provides better quality images as well.

There should be Language filter on the main page, not just in comics pages.

It's bit annoying to scroll the half of the site to find the comic. :P Just like now.

Maybe another relevant filter is to hide, if relevant option is checked, updates of old chapters.

See what I mean ? At the moment, the mangas we follow have chapters 121 and 50 as their latest chapters.
Two releases come : chapter 99 reedited, and chapter 51.
Both of the mangas will appear as updated in our list of updates.
And yet, 99% of the time we
a) won't give a flying fuck about updates of old chapters :D
B) have no idea which is the updated chapter, before spending time searching

Come on Grumpy, we're counting on you ;) And if you don't have time, there's no shame in asking for help or delegating responsibilities, it's something all managers learn to do :)

Before that, we would need some sort of system for defining chapters as updates. Now, I'm not a contributor, so maybe this system already exists, but if it does, then there are contributors not following it. The fact that people remove a chapter and upload the updated version causes a large bug with the follows list where it loses the last chapter you read if that was the one that was removed. This needs to be fixed, and some way of updating chapters instead of removing them should fix such a problem.
