yeah, it's available in the UK but not in the US :< it's not like it needs to be subbed, so I'm kinda pondering why the delay in shipping it across the Atlantic... At least with Doctor Who, the current season is available to buy through itunes so you can watch it asap even without cable... maybe they'll do this for season 3... (they're doing it for DW and Merlin, so why not Sherlock?)

>w< i know -what- happens since I've read the original, but i don't know -how- it happens since it's Sherlock! It's delightfully frustrating xD

It gets streamed in the US in May iirc ^^ I'm pretty sure after that, the local DVD release will happen :)

It all happens SO.MUCH.DIFFERENT. from the books (but you know the end result :P)

season three will be years away imo :/ The writers AND the actors are now famous, busy people ;_; and moffat has the 50th DW anniversary to take care of as well :D

let me kill you for having UK time itunes releases for DW ;_;. I'm killing you for one week lul ;D

this is good to know! Hopefully I can wait til then OwO

That's the best part about this being a modern adaptation i think!! They've really taken the stories, made them modern, given them new twists, and improved the old without it being all that remarkably different...

You think they'll wait that long to do the third season?! I hope not... They're all busy...but I need moar!!! <3

It's true! 50 years... uwah... maybe I should just go rewatch some DW to tide me over...=3= It was -so- worth buying online to have it when it released. It was expensive, and I don't have disks to show for it, but still. so.worth.it. ((especially since i didn't have cable at the time))

I personally prefer the modern adaptation compared to moar Victorian stuff ~.~ as Moffat said "it's how it was intended to be viewed"

Victorian adaptations have been done to death, and there's not much new they can do to them plot/scenario-wise, imho.

I heard rumblings about a US Sherlock, i wonder if there's any truth in it... I don't think that they could do a better job than BBC though, so why even bother?

There is meant to be a US Sherlock.

No one could do a better job of Sherlock than the original BBC crew. Cheap copies shall fail, die, and not be remembered for shame o/

on a less hateful note, i think there's more info on the other pages of the thread,

Sakii's always ruining threads with her yaoi:ness. Awful.

Wish there were more episodes a season, than just 3-4.

Quality over quantity vayvay 8D

JOHNLOCK IS MEANT TO BE C; even moffat says so ;D

@Deeka: Yeah, it's called Elementary, you can look it up. Naturally, Moffat said he's pissed about it XD If it turns out bad (probably due to Sherlock fan hate xD) it could very likely make Sherlock sound worse =_=

it's not that watson and sherlock haven't been the longest-running gay joke in the history of literature its that you keep bringing it up and its never, ever been the actual focus of the work outside of retarded fanfiction

its like watching the original star wars trilogy for incest

I've watched both seasons and I think the series is excellent. Despite loving it, I do have issues with it. My main problem with it is Andrew Scott as Moriarty, I feel like he overacts in an attempt to be a quirky genius. And in a cast as good as this, anything short of excellent sticks out like a sore thumb, for me personally.

A smaller issue is John Watson's assistance in solving cases. It's almost non-existent. I wished the show makes more use of his skills in helping him solve cases with Sherlock.

Moriarty isn't a quirky genius, that's Sherlock's job. Moriarty is a genius madman.

In the original books, John is portrayed as much more of an idiot :'( I think it's fine as it is, since he does end up learning stuff from Sherlock <3

His point is that they're both high functioning psychopaths. John Watson is the foil to Sherlock, not Moriarty. Moriarty might as well be his slightly less moral twin
This incarnation of Moriarty considers himself to be exactly the same type of person as Sherlock, as shown in his last conversation with him
Spoiler

besides Watson is only ever an idiot in comparison to Sherlock and in this series you get a lot more outside character interaction so he gets more chances to know what the hell he's doing

edit: wait what the hell how on earth could you fault Andrew Scott's performance, he's completely perfect
