Well, with a number of other translations out there, quite a few people seem to be confused about what's what with the terminologies. So, I'm listing the people's titles here for clarification.
Also, though much of this information comes from chapters here and there, it will be kept free of spoilers in regards to the story. So, if you're just starting out, feel free to reference this table.

Titles
  • King - This title should be obvious. Example: King Jahad
  • Princess - A title bestowed on a girl who shows strength. The title is given by Jahad and a "power" of Jahad is given with it. Example: Yuri, Androssi
  • Ranker - A person who has reached the "top" of the tower. Example: Lero-ro, Yuri
  • High Ranker - The best of the Rankers. Example: Yuri
  • Administrators (aka Admins) - A person responsible for administering tests to climb the tower. There are many titles which are a subset of admins. All administrators are rankers. Example: Yu Han-sung, Lero-ro
    • Director (aka Proctor) - The person who's responsible managing and directing all the other test administrators. The head of the admins. Example: Yu Han-sung
    • Instructor - A person who teaches Regulars of their roles in their positions such as fisherman, spear bearer, etc. Example: Quant
    • Ruler - The ruler of the floor. This person is above all others on the floor including Director. Examples are Evankhell
    • There are other sub-rankings within administrators, none with a specific title.
  • Manager (aka Guardian) - A creature that resides per floor. They're responsible for managing shinsoo within the floor. Example: The Eel thing Baam spoke to on 2nd floor and Headon.
  • Regular (aka Chosen Regular. Directly translated as: Chosen member) - A person who desires to climb the tower. They were chosen by Headon (and possibly others like Headon as well). Example: Serena Rinnen, Koon Agero Agnis, Rak
  • Irregular (Directly translated as: Unchosen member) - A person who has entered the inner tower of their own will. As opposite of regulars, not chosen. Example: Urek, Phantaminum.
    • The key point between Chosen Regular and (not chosen) irregular is whether or not Headon chose them or not. Whether or not they opened the door is a corollary to the fact that they were brought in or came in on their own. So, where they are from (outer tower, outside of tower, etc), who they were/are, or their strength makes no conclusion as to whether or not they're regular/irregular.
  • Blacksmith - Someone who makes weapons...
Known Positions
  • Fisherman - 낙시꾼 (pr. Naksikkoon - lit. Fisherman) Primary role of the fisherman is to lead the pact into battle. They are the front line warriors. Example: Yuri, Androssi, Anak
  • Spear Bearer - 창지기 (pr. Changjigi - lit. spear bearer) Spear bearers are like artillery fire. They keep their distance and snipe. Example: Rak
  • Light Bearer - 등대지기 (pr. Deungdaejigi - lit. Lighthouse bearer) Light bearer is the mastermind of the group. They are the strategist and responsible for literally lighting up the field. Example: Koon, Lahel
  • Scout - 탐색군 (pr. Tamsekgoon - lit. Scout / Navigator) Scout is responsible for scouting ahead to help the group avoid mishaps like ambushes. They are also a backup for the fisherman when in need. Example: Ship Leesoo, Hatsu
  • Wave Controller - 파도잡이 (pr. Padojabi - lit. Wave catcher/controller) A rarer position who excel at manipulating shinsoo. The exact role in the battle field are various. Example: Baam, Laure
    • Anima - 부리미 (pr. Boorimi - lit. A being which controls/orders) A specialty type position who controls animals to do their bidding. It's a role closely tied to wave controller. (We made up this word, so don't look it up in the dictionary. You'll get something else) Example: That small blonde girl I don't really remember the name of...
    • Dansoolsa - 단술사 (ori. ?術師 pr. Dansoolsa - lit. ____ technique user) It's a bit unclear what the meaning of this name is. Little is revealed except the name itself and that Kurudan is it. More updates will come as the comic reveals more clues. From what I can tell from the made up word, origin of which is probably hanja (like all other SIU made up words) means "something technique user". The first character, "dan", unfortunately is far too vague to make final statements. Could be 短 meaning short/quick, 壇 meaning strong, or could even be 袒 for the ecchi fans... Example: Kurudan
    • Wonsoolsa - 원술사 (ori. 圓術師 pr. Wonsoolsa - lit. circle/round technique user). The Won in Wonsul means "Circle", it is a Shinsoo Control Technique that involves 'rotating' the Shinsoo in a perfect circle. When Shinsoo is spun in a circle, it can have a much greater strength with the same amount of room and size. A Wonsulsa may use Shinsoo as booby traps, or, like Love, may throw the Shinsoo as balls or attack with a spinning-reinforced body. In order to become a Wonsulsa, it requires testing at Gustang's Research Association to become certified. Because of it, only a few people can take the role of the Wonsulsa position. Example: Mule Love
  • Guide - 길잡이 (pr. Giljabi - lit. Pathfinder, Guide) A role that guides the party to their destination. Someone who knows the way or will find the way much like a scout. Example: Evan
Regions & Locations
  • Tower - This is basically where the most of the story happens and revolves around. There are 135 known levels of the tower. Once you've reached the "top" of the tower, your wish is granted.
    • Floors. Towers are divided into levels or floors just like an apartment. As you get higher and higher, the tests become increasingly difficult.
      • Floor 1: This is the floor managed by Headon. There are no other known operators on this level.
      • Floor 2: Floor of Tests. This floor is managed by (some nameless eel thing), ruled by Evankhell, directed by Yu Hansung. Most regulars have their first test here first.
      • Floor 3~19: ???
      • Floor 20: The season 2 starts here.
      • Floor 21~76: ???
      • Floor 77: This floor is ruled by Urek Mazino.
      • Floor 78~133: ???
      • Floor 134: This floor is ruled by Zahard.
      • Floor 135: This floor has never been reached as even Zahard had never passed the test to ascend further.
    • Composition
      • Inner Tower: The inner tower is like the "stairs". Through the inner tower, you can ascend to the next floor. And it is within the inner tower, the tests to ascend are held.
      • Middle Area: Not much is currently known about this area. Just that one passes it to move between the inner and outer tower. However, from level 20 and on, residency in inner tower is permitted allowing quicker re-entry into the inner tower.
      • Outer Tower: The outer tower is where the residents of the tower live. People are born here and do what ever they like. It is said that the people of higher levels live a wealthier life. Most of the regulars are chosen from here, though, not all.
  • Outside of the Tower: Little is known about what's outside of the tower. All irregulars of the past have been from the outside. Some regulars are also chosen from the outside.
Definitions
  • Shinsoo - 신수 (ori. 神水 pr. Shinsoo - lit. God water) Shinsoo in the world of ToG is everything. It is the life, the energy, the force that encompasses the Tower of God. They can be used as a weapon, they can be used to manipulate things and even create life. The usage of shinsoo is however restricted via the permission of the Guardians. Exceptions to that would be the irregulars.
  • Sinhaeeo (aka Shin·hé·uh) - 신해어 (ori. 神海魚 pr. Shinhéuh - lit. God Sea Aquatic Animals) Shinhéuh refers to the creatures that live and depend on shinsoo. While the literal translation does mean aquatic animal, in the view where shinsoo is characterized as water and shinsoo fills everything, you are technically always within the figurative sea of shinsoo. So, it really means all creatures in the tower. This includes species like the Mangdol whales. (I'd really like to apologize for the first wtfbbq english romanization... but that's kinda the official way... so, I added a 2nd one... kinda better... imo. >.>)
pr. - Romanized Korean word for pronunciation. Generally follows the RRK romanization method.
lit. - Literal translation of the Korean word
ori. - The expected origin of the word
PS. The chinese / hanja added above are done purely by the translator based on likely assumptions and is not part of the official definitions.

Blacksmith seems to be a noteworthy position, considering how much we've heard of them in the translated blog entries and a couple times in the manhwa.

You might want to differentiate between 'princess' and 'chosen princess' (aka those with 13 months weapons) too.

I was under the impression that the Guardian and Manager of the floor refer to the same person, in the case of the first floor being Headon and in the second that huge chameleon thing that makes a contract with Baam that lets him use shinsoo. As such Headon is not a ranker, but a being that governed a specific floor (the first one in this case) since eons past... What made me think this way is what the author told us about Enryu and the fact that he killed a Manager/Guardian of some floor and that Headon is searching for him because of this... And I don't really see why Headon would do this unless he would also be of the same status as another being that holds the highest authority at one of the floors, mainly the one that was killed by Enryu...

Of course, it depends on the specific Korean naming conventions, but out of the context so far, this is how I was thinking of Headon. I also don't remember reading -in the manhwa and/or in the translated cafe and blog entries- that Headon was a ranker and that he reached the top of the tower...

PS: Also, about the irregulars, from what I understood so far, they are persons who open the door (by themselves) to the inner tower without being chosen... They may be from the outer tower or from outside the tower completely. Either way, they were not chosen by Headon to climb the tower through the inner tower.

I'm still confused about the Guardian thing. What are they, and what position do they hold in the Tower? Jahad is said to be the King, so who has the higher authority, Jahad, or the Guardians?

Well when Yuri's group is heading to the floor of test they mention that Evanhkell has a high ranking I don't think they bother ranking mangers though and I have a feeling managers are restricted to their floor not to mention Evanhkell has left his floor for now which I don't think they would say if they could visit him just by using their pocket.

It was said that all guardians are high rankers so Jahad would be over them since he is rank 3.

That means Enryu must have killed a Manager, because if he only killed a Guardian (who is a designated ranker), then he couldn't have been ranked above Jahad

Headon is not a ranker, he is one of the guardians. Which from what I can make out is different from the floor masters as they are not involved in the shinsoo distribution but more in the managing the floor kind of thing. Aka make sure the tests there are reasonable and that you have some that pass and some that fail. Fun stuff like that

Enryu's "strangest record is that 'he had murdered the Guardian'. By killing the Gardian of the Tower, who was thought to be immortal, he let the people know that the Gardians were not absolute beings".

"Enryu's overwhelming control against the Shinsoo is rated a cut above the Guardians, and it is the 'heretical' ability, breaking the laws of the Tower."

The above abstracts were taken out of the translation of the top 7 rankers.

From other posts that I have read it would seem that there are (at least) two separate layers of beings/people that govern the tower. There is on the one hand Jahad, as the king of the tower and with different (regional) rulers for each floor (ex: Evankhell) and on the other hand there are beings such as the huge Eel monster on the second floor that gives regulars the ability to control shinsoo through a contract... These last beings are referd as Guardians and in the above post I was saying that I think Headon is also one of them. Also these beings are not rankers. Even though it wasn't specifically said until now, I think it is reasonable to consider them being part of the tower itself, as in caretakers. They were thought to be "absolute beings" and "immortal", until Enryu killed one of them. Even now that floor is without such a guardian, so there are no replacements, where as rankers are plenty. Even Jahad when he came into the tower, after conquering floor after floor, he was recognized as a worthy ruler by these so called Guardians and he and the 10 great families formed contracts with them. I have summarized these facts are from different translated post from the author's blog or online cafe.

So, basically what I'm trying to say is that these Guardians are on a different level than rankers and are not "ranked" by power, or at least I don't see why they would be, as they don't really fit into the hole ranker hierarchy. That doesn't necessarily mean that they are stronger than the top rankers, as Enryu managed to kill one of them, but I think the general consensus throughout the tower is that they are closer to godhood as opposed to the rankers who start as human, albeit very powerful humans in the case of very strong rankers. This is just a possibility, but they may even be the ones that rank the people that climb the tower...

In one of the latest chapters, Serena Rinnen said "a god had appeared" when Headon appeared in front of her and transported her into the tower. So this is one of the reasons I think Headon is also one of these Guardians and has a special status within the tower and the level which he looks after, a status that is different from being a rankers, with power over even the very shinsoo in that level.

If we are talking about Evankhell, then he is indeed a high ranker that rules over the second floor, but is under the supervision of the Guardian.

EDIT: Sorry for the confusion, I used in my post the term Guardian for the beings that can form contracts, where as Grumpy referred to them as Managers... For some reason, I think the English meaning of Guardian vs. Manager reflects much better their actual role, that is why I used this term... You can call them Managers if you like... but I'm not going to reedit my post to reflect this. :P

But, the term "manager" reflects more of a job or post that has been given to someone so I really think that it would be better suited for rankers that "manage" a certain floor, such as Evankhell, as opposed to the term "guardian" which could have a more divine connotation and would reflect much better the godlike caretakers of each floor, such as that huge Eel from the second floor. At least this is how I see things in my mind so that's why I mixed up the terms...

You mean he is a manager then? The problem was before now the word manager/guardian was used for the same thing and it was very confusing but now we are trying to make guardian only mean the high ranker given control of the floor.

Yeah I was really confused for awhile about the name thing I do not really care what we end up calling them as long as it is consistent I used to think Headon was a Guardian until someone convinced me he was a Manager it is pretty confusing at times just because so far the way we saw Headon compared to giant eel monster was different not to mention one is humanoid and 1 is fishoid.

Well, Manager \ Administrator doesn't seem to be making any decisions, but just does his job of granting access to shinsoo usage and stuff. Big steel eel guy is one of these

Floor masters or whatever you should call them are Rankers, they are the mayors \ kings of their floor. They control both the inner and outer floor and make decisions on how the tests are arranged. Evankhell are one of these, they are appointed by King Jahad

Floor Guardians are creatures like Headon, they were in the tower already before Jahad and the the ten families arrived. They're like the ancient native creatures of the tower. While the floor masters device the tests and arrange how things are done the floor guardians have to approve the tests as well.

Side note, floor managers \ administrators and guardians may be the same. But for some reason I see the guardians all being creatures like headon.

At least thats my understanding

Now I can understand the difference between proctor and instructor.
I thought that Headon was a manager and the eel thingy was a guardian,
I guess I gotta go back and check that to avoid confusion.

You might want to differentiate between 'princess' and 'chosen princess' (aka those with 13 months weapons) too.

All princesses are chosen, unless they're a pretend princess like Anak (jr.). Therefore, the two are the same.

Some princesses are chosen to receive a 13 month weapon. But, that does not cause a separate title.

I was under the impression that the Guardian and Manager of the floor refer to the same person,

This is one of the reason I made this post. The terminology "Guardian" was used by us from the very first chapter as to refer to someone who came under the ownership/rulership of a floor by Jahad such as Headon, Evankhell. They were appointed to be there. Unfortunately, another translator, who translated lot of blog posts, used the same word "Guardian" to refer to our "manager". This was the spawn of much confusion. For consistency purpose, I'll keep the them "guardian" as those appointed by Jahad to be rulers. "Managers" are the beings that were there before the time of Jahad. That means Enryu killed a manager, not a guardian -- though he may have killed a guardian as well. :P
So, people who were reading forums and stuff are the only ones confused about this part. lol

All administrators, are rankers.

Rather than a "job", you can think that the manager manages shinsoo.

It was also said in a blog translation that Headon is hunting Enryuu for killing the guardian of the 47'th (?) floor. Suggesting he is one of the immortals and not a ranker. He was never referred to as a ranker

Yuri called Headon a "veteran". This is much more solid evidence that he's not an immortal (manager) than that he's chasing after Urek Enryu implying an immortality (I think it was Urek, too many names, too confusing. lol). (I dunno why I keep mixing enryu & urek up)

Unfortunately, another translator, who translated lot of blog posts, used the same word "Guardian" to refer to our "manager".

about the tower translated by cat92:

3. The Inner Tower is the place where the Regulars take exams, and the Regulars are selected by the Guardian of the first floor, Headon.

11. There are Guardians each floor, and they have control over the Shinsoo on their floor.

12. There are Rulers each floor, and they rule over their floors under the permission of the Guardians.

You can safely conclude from this that Headon is first floor manager(he control shinsoo of his floor) not floor ruler like Evankhell.

Yuri called Headon a "veteran". This is much more solid evidence that he's not an immortal (manager) than that he's chasing after Urek implying an immortality (I think it was Urek, too many names, too confusing. lol).

saying that he is “veteran” proves only that he is very experienced and old. For example, as the oldest known being in the tower.

and... from where in this topic came Urek???

Besides that Evan(rank ~100) was afraid of Headon(he is not in top 10) but moments later he goes(reluctant but he still goes) on a “round of war” against Evankhell(rank ~70). If Headon was ranker he should also be close to rank of Evankhell...

Not to mention Headon is hunting Phantamonium actively. Aka he's hunting the number 2 guy in the tower

Okay, I didn't want to work off of another translator's version because, it's a translation after all. So, I went and reviewed all the way back to beginning chapters and blogs... Sigh, I work too hard.

And you are right, Headon is a "manager". Which causes the "consistency" to be guardian = manager as I only used the term once. Geez... it was nearly a year ago when I started using these terms. xD So, give me some break. lol

The reason the term "veteran" implies non-infinity (not always there) is that the term requires length of experience. And length requires beginning and end -- for which the end can be current state. A being that was always there cannot have a beginning. It's like trying to say that God is a veteran. Perhaps I'm bringing in too much of religious philosophy into this. In any case, clearly, the author is not in agreement with me on that one - or possibly, he had a bit of an Engrish moment as he actually used the English word "veteran" in korean pronunciation. Though arguably, managers weren't always there either.

Not to mention Headon is hunting Phantamonium actively. Aka he's hunting the number 2 guy in the tower

There has been other cases where a weaker hunts the stronger (such as anak (sr.)) just by grouping up.

and... from where in this topic came Urek???

Urek came from reply to Gab's post about Enryuu.

--------------
I've updated the above post to reflect the "research". lol

Sorry if this has been answered, but when they where talking about someone being able to create life with shinsoo, were they referring to enryu or urek?
Someone said it was translated wrong and should be enryu, but for now I'm just going with Urek as the chapter said.
