Description: The story is set in a world where supernatural powers exist through science, and magic exists through religion.

Academy City is home to 2.3 million inhabitants, which include ordinary civilians and ESPers; individuals with special abilities. 80% of the students in Academy City are active in the "Brain Development Program" and out of that 80%, only 7 are classified as Level 5 ESPers.

Meet level 5 "Electromaster" Misaka Mikoto and her friend Shirai Kuroko, who both work together in maintaining peace within Academy City's university district as members of "Judgment"; Academy City's student-based disciplinary committee.

"To Aru Kagaku no Railgun" ("A Certain Scientific Railgun") is a side story of "To Aru Majutsu no Index" ("A Certain Magical Index").

Let's see. Volume 2, This Chapter, Volume 22, NT Volume 4. I count four, unless I missed something. NT Volume 9 did not count, because the invisible thing did not pop out.

It didn't come out, but Kamijou definitely felt power gathering there.

Pretty sure that by counting this, he loses it 5 times.

SERIOUSLY!?!?! The ONLY possible way for this TIMELINE FIASCO to be buried in the main story is if "Mental Out" does some bullshit memory wipe on ALL of Academy City. Then Mikoto's and Touma's (and others who are immune to "Mental Out") amnesia can be explained with a "DR. GEKOTA DIAGNOSED CONVENIENT POST-BATTLE MEMORY LOSS."

*yada yada yada*

Well, maybe they didn't forget after all. See Touma's surprised face now? The next time it happens he not only doesn't show surprise, but actually tells the dragon to settle down, and this is in the LN.

If you're talking about odd non-induced memory loss, I'm still sad about Lessar and Mikoto not talking at all to each other even though they met before the first volume of Index (in "Shopping Mall Demonstration" LN).

This week:

Spoiler

What a wonderful week.

...what? What do you mean by ''sensing magic'', you can't ''sense'' magic, and neither has Accelerator displayed such an ability.

And it's not the AIM of the Sisters that were forced into Mikoto either, it's implied it's something else, maybe even the Artificial Heaven.

Accelerator feels a pressure on his chest whenever he's near certain magic, like Unabara's. Sasha Kreutzev seems to have the same pressure after angel fall

there is something very important that we are missing, if the aim of the sisters are poured into misaka for the shift then won't misaka be able to sense magic like accelerator? will that affect the storyline?

I get the feeling that this chapter just spoiled something major for me, If Touma ends up losing his arm at any point in the inevitable season three I am not going to be at all surprised.

Pretty sure that by counting this, he loses it 5 times.

He never said his name to her. That mean they met before memory loss. Even in vol.1 Touma knew about "girl who controll memories" . So we realy can't said she  told about Daihaseisai (Railgun) event.

I think he was talking about the "new testament" series of LN

About the memory part. It is obvious that Misaki did wipe their memories. If you read To Aru Majutsu no Index NT Volume 7, you would notice that Misaki referenced an event in the past that Touma obviously does not remember and Touma didn't remember her even though they met during the Daihaseisai.

Now about the huge-ass tower called Endymion, there is a novel called Road to Endymion that is the prequel of the movie.

If you are so confused, obviously you never read A Certain Unified Calendar.

Get your facts straight before raging at the story.

Btw, this arc happens the day after the fiasco with Oriana Thomson.

There's also the chance that they just chose to move on with there lives afterworlds...(it wouldn't be the first time)

Don't forget Fiamma of the Right ;)

Oh, you sweet summer child...

It's more likely that it is te Shadow Metal of the urban legend Saten talks about in chapter 44. Something about when hundreds of esper abilities clash, the metal id created, and the Daihaseisai is the only time for multitudes of esper powers to clash.

10.png

In retrospect, it doesn't actually disprove your theory that it is really Dark Matter.

No bro, just no.

And they have a LOT of that metal (it'll probably be used by Alister though, and maybe that's why mikoto's dad was all pissy when he met with the guy)

i don't give a damn about how they will bury this in the main story the level of awesomeness in this chapter is enough to cover for it.

It's pretty obvious what Touma and his right hand are.

Touma is a lizard, the right hand/arm contains his final form. I mean, how often did he regrow that thing?

AT THE VERY LEAST MIKOTO AND TOUMA NEED TO SOMEHOW FORGET ABOUT TOUMA'S "ARM-DRAGON" AND MIKOTO GOING ALL LEVEL 6 BESERK AND THE FACT THAT SHE UNDERWENT A PHYSICAL METAMORPHOSIS (SHE FREAKING GREW HORNS) NOT TO MENTION MIKOTO FEELING GUILTY FOR CUTTING OFF TOUMA'S ARM!!!

There is NO WAY IN HELL that Touma and Mikoto wouldn't have remembered all of this in the Main Storyline particularly the "World War III Arc" and beyond.

Then again seeing as how Kazuma Kamachi somehow made the HUGE-ASS TOWER from that TRAVESTY of a movie known as "The Miracle of Endymion" OFFICIAL CANON, he might just not give a fuck and once again modify the continuity of the INDEX-VERSE for the hell of it.

For most people, fighting a berserk level 5, losing an arm, unleashing a dragon and saving a city will be the most important moment of their lives to the point that they won't shut up about it. For Touma, it was Tuesday.

yeah yeah touma save the day again whatever tired of this shit.

Then go, and dont let the door hit your ass when leaving.

I thought the dragon was a product of Ars Magna (and it's user's fears). showing up here means that either the spell changed Touma (which is impossible, since that would be undone by imagine breaker) or innate to him. hmmm...

Many people, myself included, thought that was the case, but later on your are given hints to start thinking otherwise.

As other have mentioned, in the WWIII arc, touma loses his right arm and the dragon reapears.

Also, Aleister at some point mentions something along the lines of "the hand isnt the power in itself", so people figured it was a kind of seal for something else. I cant quite remember what exactly was said or in which part of the LN tough.

His right hand can become a Dragon....
i have a dirty mind for seeing such connection

yeah yeah touma save the day again whatever tired of this shit.

You mean besides how he benefitted from Gunha, Misaki (arguably the biggest factor), and Kuroko's help, and wouldn't have been able to save Misaka on his own?

Please, sit down and fill out the form:

er time to read something new then, even if misaka is the main focal poiint in this series, touma will always make a cameo or have relevance.

This manga refers to events in the light novel, and vice versa(to a lesser extent), the main char is different but they are in the same city.

yeah yeah touma save the day again whatever tired of this shit.

I like this tons better then index(never got into it actually)  So who care, lets call this the main story and the other is just an alternate universe

This one barely has any magic, though. I need something to vastly prefer science to.

I like this tons better then index(never got into it actually)  So who care, lets call this the main story and the other is just an alternate universe

I can never quite understand why people choose to interpret the story like this. Doing so, leads to inevitable plot holes opening up and leads to a generally weaker overall story.

LN readers are able to find significance and connections to the main story in almost every chapter. Not to mention that the majority of the scientific ideas thrown around in Railgun are first introduced in the main story.

I've said this multiple times before but while Railgun can be read as a stand alone series, it is ultimately written for the sake of the LN readers; Chapter 69's WTF moment is one of the more glaring, in-your-face proofs of this. Rather, the majority of what has happened in the Daihaseisai Arc is proof of this. It fully expects you to be familiar with what has happened in the LNs.

Mikoto will play it off as just something she saw while all screwed up by the magic, since his arm is just there. She's a very skeptic person and probably won't believe a dragon flew out of his arm when it's clearly still attached to him. She also probably didn't know what the metamorphosis stuff was because she was unconscious. Touma learning he could do this makes the scene where he grows it back while fighting Fiamma make more sense, so he shouldn't forget. Touma also recalls some fight with Mikoto in the same volume they go on the penalty game date, so they could play it off as that. No one else was in the area when all of this happened, so they have no idea what went on. The only ones who may need to forget are Kuroko, Uiharu, and Saten. Since they have already had their minds messed with at the start, they could easily play that off with Misaki.

It's really not a big deal like you are making it out to be.

As for gemstones. Don't go forgetting that Himegami is also a gemstone and isn't strong at all. All it really means is that they have abilities that cannot be explained with science.

Poor Himegami has had such a low impact on the plot so far that I'm not really sure how strong she might be. Deep Blood apparently has the power to call vampires, creatures neither science nor magic have ever confirmed the existence of. Aleister remarks that the existence of Deep Blood "proves" the existence of vampires, but I wonder if Himegami's real power isn't the ability to call vampires, but instead is the ability to create vampires where previously none had existed. Or at least the ability to turn people into vampires.

At any rate, Kamachi Kazuma has apparently decided that Himegami is too boring to waste pages on, since the last time she was involved in the plot in any way was during the Daihaseisai Arc21 volumes ago....
