I think the art style fits the atmosphere, but I can not sympathize with the characters' fears in spite of the bizarre situations they experience. Due to presentation and possibly translation, it seems intentional that the reader is made to feel like an outside observer, which is of poor taste in this case. The scenarios still make for an interesting read.
