Sekine-kun no Koi

I have an odd love-hate relationship with Sekine as a character. On one level, his reactions to the world around him and many of his interactions with other people are charming. Yet, at the same time he embodies my least favorite characteristics in people. He doesn't understand himself very well, sometimes to an infuriating degree , and is passive to the point that he is easily taken advantage of.

 

He sometimes seems like the type of person that would have sex with his girlfriend's sister because he was just going with the flow, and yet also feel terrible about it afterwards. For all of his good traits, I don't think I'd want to be friends with him. Color me bemused, I suppose.

I love this series, especially the random funny moments combined with Sekine's seriousness.

I feel for Sekine. It doesn't matter how good or bad you look (or you think you look), if you don't have the social skills, you'll always feel forever alone.

Sekine is so jealous  - but I don't think he is used to feeling anything for anyone,  like he is used to keeping his emotions shut off - but he definitely likes her and is jealous.

This was a nice chapter, I like her reactions to him. But I feel for Sekine, that last line must of stung :\.

That other guy just targetted her cause he was jealous of Sekine annoyed me. I felt really sad when he unravelled all those little bears.
But at least Sekine spoke up and said he wanted to go to the circus with her.

Hohmigosh, Sekine, could you be any more unbearably yet adorably awkward? >.< I don't think the other dude is that serious about Sara, really. True, he could sincerely be friends with her right now, with or without feeling anything romantic for her, even if he set out to meet her in the first place because of his jealousy of Sekine. However sincere his feelings are for Sara, though, I know he will intentionally butt into Sekine's budding relationship with her out of spite; he seems kind of jerky like that.

I'm probably being too harsh and prejudiced toward the guy right now but gah, I hate when people do that. Well, it was thanks to him though that Sekine got the chance to reconnect with Sara again, so that's one in his favor even if it was maybe unintentional. Guh, I need more of this manga!
