Translations for the novels range from serviceable to decent. Occasionally the way things were worded bothered me, there are places where words are misused, and sometimes I'd find it difficult to tell which characters were speaking. There were never any spots that were so bad that I had no idea what was going on.

It's possible that an editor has gone through and cleaned some of that stuff up since I read it.

How are the translations for the light novel? Are they really good? I'm thinking of reading them.

Teamwork in manga, when executed like this, is fine. Basically giving everyone their own battles and letting the MC take the big dog. Teamwork like in those shitty harems where everyone is weak and they gang up to take over one powerful opponent....that shit sucks

Meh I think the best teamwork is when they coordinate their attacks without blabbering a wall of text while executing a single punch or kick... or having weird flashbacks. And I'm not talking about magic power ups, but proper tactics like encircling, covering, watching the back, stalling a dangerous opponent.... or maybe even mmo tactics (that could apply to the world in this manga) like a tank (Panzer... get it?) or some other kind of hindrance and a high damage AoE mage (guess who!) or maybe a ranged DPS.

Leo got an upgrade from "Useless side character" to "somewhat cool side character". Which pretty much means that he's still going to be doing absolutely nothing for the main story, really, and makes me wonder why this was made its own chapter.

 

Poor Leo, even though he's a tough SOB he'll never be cool enough to impress anyone with Tatsuya around.

Leo got an upgrade from "Useless side character" to "somewhat cool side character". Which pretty much means that he's still going to be doing absolutely nothing for the main story, really, and makes me wonder why this was made its own chapter.

He's yummier.  Not all people prefer The Stoic, y'know.  Some of us prefer the Hot Blooded ones.  Blue oni is okay and all, but I prefer red.  Don't follow any of those links.  They are all traps.

But nevermind. I think we'll see some fights for the 2nd course students (next up: Erika?) to show-off their power. Basically to prove that they aren't worse than 1st course. At least that's what I'd do.

This manga save me from reading the light novel.....too many term and word i couldn't understand in the novel........so for the translator,thank you sooooooooooooooo much

Well, that's not entirely true. He participates in a few battles alongside Tatsuya later.

Btw the mind control's not emphasized on everyone - there's a lot of students who're just 'brainwashed' (not in the literal sense - just by propaganda) - but there's only a few that's mind-controlled.

Somehow I'm more in the mood on seeing an angry Miyuki than a cool Tatsuya :s

Oh the school debate was a distraction huh? So you needed to manga to straight out lay it in front of you before you could response back? Well thank you captain obvious but unfortunately that doesnt make the debate any more serious or intelligent now that it is clear that they were nothing but puppets who couldnt see that they were being manipulated. Nor does it excuse the fact that the enemy who can control peoples' minds is controlling third rate magicians instead of more powerful magician or any magician with authority that can carry out the plans more smoothly. 

don't worry, at least we see badass Tatsuya soon. really soon.

The art is nice. The story still hasn't begun. The MC is as interesting as a killer robot.

Why do i get the feeling that Tatsuya has being dummed down alot compaired to the tatsuya in the light novel.(I understand that the manga doesn't cover everything) i just get this feeling that tatsuya feels different compaired to his light novel counter-part.

Leo's specialty is Fortification magic.  He can't really do anything else.  In Pokemon terms, its like having a high level pokemon that can only use the moves "Bulk Up" (increases attack and defense) and "Tackle"  as opposed to having a lower level pokemon with a more balance move list (ex: the course A students). 

So, the only currently thing that Leo is good for currently is physical melee combat.  If somebody simply used sleeping gas (or some other chemical weapon/non-physical magic) its likely he wouldn't be able to counter it.
