That all changes when a 'hipster' saves the life of a jellyfish and intrudes upon Tsukimi's isolated existence. Things are made even more complicated when it turns out that the beautiful woman is actually a man in drag.

Dammit, now I want to be an assistant.

Berserk's Miura should learn from her

Haha!  That bit in the extra with the high school boys is cute.

Artists have lives ?!!! how dare they !!! , they should be working no stop to please us .

What's Fish's deal with Amamizukan?

That would solve everything.

Spoiler

Dramatic , can't say i didn't espected it , i doubt she will betray them , but i have a feeling that kuranosuke will tell her to sell .

That "Fish" guy don't beat around the bush, do he?

Thanks much Hachimitsu scans for all these releases!

That cliffhanger! I'm going to die!

Thank you for the fantastic job Hachimitsu Scans! :)

I thought her lines about seeing Kuranosuke as a "poison" were signs she is falling for him too. I think Kuranosuke is for her too obviously as he wants to accompany her on her dates etc like he doesn't want his brother with her but hasn't admitted it fully to himself yet and he likes it when she gets into her "inspired" mode.... I just can't see the brother with her.

For once, PLG, I have to disagree with you on a ship. This has never happened before...

Heh.
Meanwhile, Sexy Seta's probably right that it's silly to debate this. But it's fun so I will anyway.

Frankly, I see Kuranosuke as her muse. He is an incredible source of information for her, and has helped her open doors that she didn't think it was possible for her to go through. Without a doubt, there is a deep sense of admiration in him stemming from Tsukimi that could give rise to romantic feelings, but I am unable to see that possibility in the present.

It's true there's a nuance to my claim about her "poison" lines that I didn't really get at. I do think it's a romantic emotion she's expressing, but I don't mean to claim she fully understands that that's what it is. But it is a personal, specific emotion in a way that her feelings for Shuu to my mind aren't. With Shuu, she has the feelings of an otaku maiden being courted by a nice man; the point isn't that it's him in particular. She's being swept off her feet, yes--by the concept that a man is in love with her, treating her as a princess etc.; being who she is, this has a powerful effect on her, but it's not a personal feeling about Shuu.

But her feelings about Kuranosuke are personal, they are about him in specific. And while she may not be thinking "I love this guy", I find it hard to see "I'm being poisoned and I don't care if it messes me up" as just admiration of beauty, muse or what have you. It's just too visceral; it's the way emotions are described in deeply dramatic manga, when the characters drown in the feeling, like something from Oboreru Knife or something like that.

Moreover, I don't think Kuranosuke is at a suitable maturity level to actively engage in a relationship with Tsukimi. He still has issues with his mother that he has to resolve, and his fashion brand to consider. Why muddy up these things by involving himself with a good friend, potentially creating disaster? He is just now learning responsibility, and, unlike his older brother, has a history for short, physical relationships.

This may all be true, but on his side there isn't really any doubt. Whether he should have or not, whether he's good enough or not, it's been made pretty clear that he's fallen for her hard. And again, it's based on a much more personal understanding of who she is than Shuu has, although to his credit Shuu's feelings seem to be holding as he starts to get an idea what she's actually like.

Anyway, it's feeling a bit silly to debate about this so much, because it's up to the author to decide lol (and we're obviously not going to abandon our ships! haha) and romance definitely doesn't define this series. It's so much more than that.

Agreed. :) My usual maxim for this kind of thing is "Wait and see," but I ain't abandoning my Kuranosuke/Tsukimi ship until both of them are married to other people. It's not bad seeing a civil debate between two good, relatively-healthy ships, though.

On chapter 58, ohmigosh the developments! I'm so excited I'm shaking a little. Or maybe it's the sudden cold front and my wet hair... but who cares! I can't wait to see how this plays out, and I really wish we can see the dresses in color. All these rapid updates are going to spoil me. Thanks, Hachimitsu Scans!

Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited that I could burst! This is so wonderful! Thank you so very much, Hachimitsu scans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg I love how Kuranosuke jiggled his "boobs" when flirting with that glasses man.

Ehhh...that didn't come off as romantic to me. It seems to express the large impact he has on her as a person. She was referring to his beauty. He is the source of inspiration for her dresses after all!

Yeah, I feel like her welcoming Kuranosuke's "poison" is more about the changes in her personality and lifestyle.

Tsukimi's a very self-conscious girl, but she's also very self-aware. She knows she's young and inexperienced and clumsy, but she can feel Kuranosuke's confidence rubbing off on her. She admires him, and if she loves him, it's a very different kind of love from what she feels for "oniisan"—that is, not romantic.

I think deep down, Tsukimi wants to change. If not, she wouldn't have moved all the way to Tokyo. To Tsukimi, Kuranosuke is not only beautiful and glamorous, but also brave and cool because while the Amars all have their passions, Kuranosuke actively using his passion to try to do something amazing. Even if they don't manage to save Amamizukan, Kuranosuke will have made an impact on the Amars' lives, and that is why Tsukimi admires him.

TL;DR—Kuranosuke is probably Tsukimi's Lady Oscar. (Just... not a lady.)

Gosh, the imagery here is breathtaking.

Personally, I find her relationship with Shuu to be the more attractive prospect. They began their courtship out of physical attraction for one another (which is not wrong by any means), and have gradually been shown to grow more and more intimate as they got to know one another. It will be a hard road for them to  travel on, but I think it's well worth it.

Thank you Hachimitsu Scans for all the hard work! :)

Dude, is it just me or did she get stung by a cubozoan? Some of their stings could be fatal.... how...

Well that's how I see Kuranosuke and Tsukimi. I just can't see them acting lovey-dovey or coupley.  Kuranosuke seems more like a really good friend. Of course, Shuu and Tsukimi aren't gonna know what to do with each other: they're both inexperienced in more ways than one lol, but I could totally see them stepping up their game, albeit sloooowly haha.

Well, you have a point.  Actually, coming to think of it, one feature of Higashimura's characters is that they're so energetic in their own thinking that they all tend to ignore each other.  It's great for the comedy and for general interest; they all feel so alive.  But it makes romance harder to pull off.

As to Kuranosuke . . . I think we just this chapter saw the first, dunno, the first genuine and specific romantic feeling Tsukimi has ever shown.  Like, with Shuu she's felt flustered because a nice man is paying attention to her, but it feels to me like it would be the same with any nice man.  But this--

Spoiler

Wow.  That's personal, and a much harder-edged emotion than she's ever seemed to have before.

Lol @ Coco Ichi reference. I forgot about this curry place.

Well, they are both cute, and awkward, and adorable.  It's just that I don't really feel they're a couple so much as two people who happen to be being awkward and adorable in the same room.

That ending, wth? Feels like they stopped on an incomplete thought and a rather negative one to boot.
