This is great! Oh wonderous and well-read Batoto-ites (Batotors? Batotians?) please point me at another great manga along this vein. One with some comedy and no wangst, preferably. If the protagonist could be anywhere near as cute as Kanoko, that's a bonus. I'm counting on you, my minions fellow fans!

Thanks, Le Wishful Scanlations: two whole chapters of my favorite manga heroine and her demonic plotting. I really loved the plot against the nose in the air president, where the rumors of him being Ouji's lover ran rampant. That was hilarious. Ouji sure is a moron, and almost makes the neko twins look intelligent. For a number one seeded scholastic school, it certainly has its' share of idiots. (Tsubaki's musing at the cultural festival, "Is this school gonna be alright?")

Can't Haru at least steal a bit of Kanoko's heart?

My guess as to why she wants to keep her hidden is because of Hijiri. Hijiri, like Kanoko, likes a challenge; to put their manipulation and calculation ability to the test. Knowing Hijiri well, I think Sayuri sees that he is greatly enjoying the "battle" with the Newspaper Club. If her assumption that Kanoko is the mastermind is correct, and Kanoko is exposed, then the drive and excitement Hijiri has about all of this will dissipate. I think the reason Sayuri wants to hide Kanako is because Sayuri is part-Momo and part-Tsubaki. She never really had girl friends before just like Momo-chan becasue of her beauty and popularity. During the time of the beauty contest, when Kanoko said that she will work hard at being a good friend to Tsubaki and that she too should be friends with him, Sayuri realized that Kanako is different from all the other girls. But because she isn't an airhead or direct about her feelings like Momo, requesting for genuine friendship does not come to her naturally (She never really had any practice). In this part she is like Tsubaki. He wants to let Kanoko do what she wants and have fun and is there for her when she needs to be protected. On the other hand, Sayuri knows Hijiri and can most probably predict that he will target Kanoko if she lets him know that she is the real mastermind behind the newspaper club. The reason why I do not think that it is due to jealousy is because she suspected Kanoko before and has mentioned this to Hijiri already. But now that her doubts are confirmed, she hasn't told him. The reason has to be that she wants to protect Kanoko. All in all, Sayuri wants Kanako to have the freedom to move around plotting and planning and wants to help her out whenever needed. At the same time she wants to try and rebuild the trust that she inadvertently broke when she locked Kanoko up during the beauty contest. Atleast that is what I think....

Kanoko has the intelligence at its peak since she's an observer. This also means one thing, she is too calculative of herself... but i must say, the fact that she claim herself as an unattractive nor cute, fashionable in any sense made me crack up! She never placed herself for boy's love interest so when Tsubaki does any sort of advances to her, she doesn't assume anything from him...(GRR)
I just wish she'd question Tsubaki's movements and constant skinship towards her!! Then again, she avoided two kiss attempts from Tsubaki(poor you). I must say... her timing is awesome LOL!

Isn't it even simpler than that.

She likes him and wants him all to her self, thus if he finds out that the person hes competing against is in fact a girl, wont he be interested in said girl. So shes simply keeping the secret so that he doesn't get interested in the MC as she doesn't want him thinking about other girls.

Tsubaki, I could wash you get all blushyface for more than 40 pages. Just sayin'
