Honestly, the anime ending made slightly more sense, I don't really get where the fuck he went for all those years. But even so, I like this better.

@theroadstopshere: Huh? It is not. This was published in my country, and completed in 5 volumes, with 21 chapters in total.

Series is on indefinite hiatus. No word on next release, as far as I know.

I love this series. God willing it is someday completed. C'mon Arakawa-sensei, I'm praying here...
