The lack of disapline and rampant infighting amoung Pandora leads me to doubt the effectiveness of the training.

its not like every instructor will treat their trainees the same way that Park treated Elizabeth and the rest of the group, it is quite possible that some of the trainers are too soft to impose some discipline and considering that some if not the mayority of those girls come from a rather comfortable enviroment where they could do as they pleased, its not surprise that some of them act like spoiled brats as you say, I would say that kind of problematic behavior may as well come from some half-assed training where they could keep acting like that  without any kind of consequence. Thanks for the chapter and is this the last one or there are more gaidens?

 

If they do something wrong, she beats the shit out of them. Stopping or disobeying order in this manga ususally gets you killed, so i'd take the beating in training so you don't have to get killed when its for real. She didn't beat any of them so bad they couldn't train did she? No injuries, no dropouts, that would defy the point.

Not going to get any training done by having the shit beat out of them.

I'm sure this instructor has some Kakashi style backstory in which her weakness caused the deaths of her friends and there's even some bad scarring hidden under her hair.

In the US? Yeah, there are hardass drill instructers but hitting recruits (or anyone else outside of self-defense classes or in self defense) is the fastest way to get court martialed. Drill Sargeants will push recruits mentally and physically to the limit but some of the examples in this chapter is how not to do it.

 

Freezing as a whole is about how not to run a military - no real command structure, no real sense of comradere among the girls, no real sense of purpose. If any real life military was ran like this, there'd be a military coup overnight. With what's happening in the Main Series, I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen. Some of the girls did try to revolt after being treated like @#$# a couple of arcs back.

Agreed, but that is a manga that is NOT about an ACTUAL military organisation

The whole "Pandora" project (and the "Valkyre project" too, for details read main story) is a project run by a bunch of scientists HEAVILY funded by the people who are in control of the world (the Chevalier or however they are called)

Why is that organisation in control?

Guess they took advantage of the confusion in the aftermatch of the whole mess of the initial Nova assault and seized power

And since they initially tried to use the "normal" military to deal with the nova threat, there was not much left of them and the command chain. Novas can use that weird "Freezing" what made pretty much ALL human weaponry useless.

Then the "Pandora" project proved successful and it simply replaced the military order and nobody bothered improving BEYOND the drill we are reading just now (besides of further training in schools) because the pandoras were doing just fine

That demon instructor needs to be bitch slapped to the next Meng dynasty

Well, it certainly used to be allowed in the US military as well, but yeah, you're right,  all that has changed now. And what's shown in this chapter is probably intentionally over-the-top for "dramatic effect" too.

Well, I don't know how it is handled in America, but here in Austria (I am talking about the small country in europe, not the huge one with kangaroos) you can choose:

Either you go to the military for half a year OR you do 9 months of "civil service" (literally "Zivildienst"), which I chose (I basically drove patients around a hospital)

 

Oh, and you can be declared as unsuited to either (for example because of health problems), then you don't have to attend it at all

 

Why only 6 Months? 

Well, after WW2 Austria and Germany weren't really allowed to have much of a military force^^

I don't see much of a point in these laws now, all they do now is being a nuisance and stuff like that
