Ok, here is my guess. that young princeling thats helping them out is the reincarnated evil emperor. the current emperor found the manuscript telling him about the bells at the time that young princeling was dozing off and fell into the manuscripts. plus, they both have similar looks.

his aim is to manipulate that Myung-joo's king and the current emperor into finding that all powerful priestess for him.

You know... they should have just stuck to colour-names.
