I have inspiration for my activities shortly prior to April 1st, 2014.

hahaha... the difficulties of being a girl :(

The scale is the enemy! If you're a bodybuilder, you start to realize that the number on the scale becomes useless after a while. It's all about what you look like.

That was enlightening.

Wow, too funny. :)

And it seems the comic's on hiatus. :( Last update was during March.

@Reminiscent Cheeseburger Like Liar said, you just have to change the side dish. Nobody can eat plain rice everyday without getting tired of it.

This manhwa is great! I really like how each chapter usually focuses on a different main female character but other characters make cameos or are actually relevant/related to the story. Chapter 14 was really deep, man I feel for her. My favourite girl's 'arc' so far is the one with the 'past' that works at a bar.

As an Asian, I eat rice everyday. It's an important part of my diet, and it adds nourishment to my meals. I don't think I can ever get tired of eating rice as long as the main dish is different.

Anyway, great chapter. My favourite line? "Go download a brownload!"

Is there a forum for food? I know this is a manga website, but nothing sets me ablaze more than the talk of multicultural food. (well, and manga/anime/video games/books/history...)

I mean according to the 5-10 asians (Japanese, mostly Korean, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Chinese) I associate myself with daily, they all eat rice for at least two meals a day!  I find that preposterous.  How can a person eat the exact same food day in and day out every single day?  Well, as my Great Grandfather used to say "It's good if you like it" :)

Sorry to anybody who finds this not pertaining to anything relevant  -_-  hehe...

anybody notice the 'come spring' manwha book the middle school glasses girl had in chapter 16, i laugh pretty hard at that XD

God:  You're forgetting Vancouver.  You want top notch Asian food in North America, the place to come is Vancouver, whether it's Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, whatever.

Those "pancakes" looked wrong to me.

Well, "pancake" is probably the closest thing to what I believe is 부짐개(bu chim gae). It's a special type of pancake-like dish that can be fried with cucumber, onions, carrots, bacon bits, or whatever you like!

Perhaps you're familiar with お好み焼き(okonomiyaki)? Well, 부짐개 is closer to that, but still distinct.

You have to try it to know what it is. It tastes great! Your best bet (short of a flight to Korea) is to visit California or Hawaii. Almost anywhere else in the US is going to be watered down for white people (we don't call sandwiches with eel, kimchi, nori, and rice buns "hamburgers," so don't call that food "asian").

Those "pancakes" looked wrong to me.

"... and the best guys are gay."

This author seems to speak from experience.

@Purple Library Guy

I have no problem with the lady's way of business, I'm stating it as the main key success factor for her business. I'm very sure it's uncommon for people going to bar simply to talk their problems to the bartender, but she's successful in doing that, hence she can attract more customers than other bars.

So what the guy said was the truth, but the problem was he defined prostitution as 'selling body for money'. If that's so, then cosplay cafes and female idols who used their bikini photos to make people buy their album should be considered prostitutes, but they are not because prostitution is defined as 'selling sex for money.' This is what I disagree with the guy and he is being rude in saying that what the lady did is equal to prostitution, because to me as long as she did not have sex and only flirting or teasing with the male customers, it is not prostitution.

However this becomes a problem if the guy already have a wife or a girlfriend. The boss was a clear example of this. He has somehow lost emotional connection with his wife and is no longer talking to her about his woes and problems. Because of this, he now talk all his problems away with the lady and find emotional support with her. I'm very sure if the wife found out that her husband actually talked and laughed with a beautiful young bartender for hours a few times a week, the wife will be angry and said that her husband is being unfaithful to her. This is actually what the guy points out. No wives or girlfriends will be happy that their significant other is spending time at the bar talking with a female bartender about problems that they don't tell their wives or girlfriends. In fact they might thought that the lady does have an affair with their spouses and looks badly at her.

(But to be clear I do not think this is the fault of the lady, it's the boss should have tried to solve the problem with his wife rather than giving up talking with his wife.)

The extreme shifts in tone between chapters is kinda weird.

Well, each woman has different things she wants to 'hide,' and they all react differently to different situations (also take age differences into account here). Besides, just about every chapter will be different from the one before (meaning different characters, etc.), so sudden changes from chapter to chapter are to be expected. Instead, try reading the chapters as they go along with their main topic (Hide your Age, Hide your Face, etc.) and the changes in tone won't be so apparent i.e. the stories flow. Just a suggestion. ^^

The extreme shifts in tone between chapters is kinda weird.

This is getting even better. The characters are all linked in an intriguing way and the pretty art is uplifting with its colourfulness.

I like the humour too.

"I guess he's eating dog food again tonight."

What he said is the truth - the lady does offer emotional service to the male customers and thus making them greatly infatuated with her and keeps coming back. That's how she gets her loyal customers.

Well, first, so what?  She's pretty and nice and they like her and like being around her so they keep coming back.  Criminal!  If it was a guy bartender offering homespun wisdom and cheering up people who come in to drown their sorrows, everyone would say he was great.  Why, he'd probably get his own manga all about how awesome it is to be a bartender who acts like an informal psychologist while mixing amazing drinks.  They'd call it bartender, and . . . oh, wait, that manga exists (and is pretty good).

But OK, say we want to object to emotional manipulation to help sell a product.  They call it capitalism.  This is our system.  Storekeepers busily make the merch look attractive, manufacturers advertise what they make with fun emotion-laden gibberish rather than by logically explaining their product's benefits.  We don't sell things, we sell emotional connection with things--and very often we use sex to do it.  When men arrange for this kind of thing to be done, they call them heroic entrepreneurs.

So, fine, you don't like what she's doing?  Then say you want a revolution.  Until then, I don't see why it's impoverished women who are the ones supposed to be changing how the game is played.  I doubt this guy, or you, would be berating her if she was in advertising, even though an advertiser's manipulations are way slimier.  Heck, he probably would at least not be pushing half as hard if she was a guy host.  Frankly, I think anyone giving her a hard time about how she makes her living is a rank hypocrite.

I also only care so much about what's in his past.  Deciding you hate a whole category of people because of something some specific person did is the kind of crap that leads to racism--"Those (X) are all the same".  It's the reaction of a creep, lots of people go through stuff and don't react that way.

Maybe this stuff hits a bit close to home for me--in my city, a while back there was a serial murderer, killed dozens of prostitutes over a number of years.  The cops could have caught him years earlier if they'd felt like putting much effort in, but they seem not to have thought the prostitutes counted as real people so they didn't bother.  Devaluing people's humanity because they have a low class job (that they got pushed into) leads to very real and literal death.

Saying a woman who works at a bar is like a prostitute is wrong, since we know the technical difference. But one of her roles is like that of teen girl idols (who also have other functions), to please men (and women, but the ones seen as creepy are usually the male fans).

Everyone probably has a reason. A teen idol wants to break into the entertainment industry. A bar girl needs to ... pay the bills? But these are definitely among jobs with a disgusting side people don't like to talk about, some less subtle than others. I do agree with the guy that there are other jobs a person could do. Indeed, I see around me peddlers who have to work in the rain, and construction workers without a real place to stay. It's easy to see how people who take the seemingly easy way out might be hated from such a perspective. The hate for the rich, or NEETs / "welfare queens" is just one version of this.

But hey, it's always easier to hate than sympathize. "The girl is a bitch and the man is a misogynist."

So I look it up on Naver, this 화장 기술,which I quickly assume to be plain face (correct me though if I'm wrong). Now I'm terrified and I can almost never trust a woman with makeup.Make up your mind and hearts before you search,by the way.

    • God likes this

화장 기술. Look it up on naver. It's no joke.

So plain is synonymous with ugly now? Sheesh.

After reading Chapter 13 I Retract my Previous Statement, If she was going to take him anywhere she should have taken him to a Dump so he could live with the rest of the Trash.

@Trilling: Your first paragraph demonstrates the flaw in his logic.  It IS generally accepted that one can go to a Bar for Emotional Consolation, the only reason he has any problem with her or that bar is because she's a woman, and an attractive one at that.  Because of that, and her job, he assumes she's literally selling her Body as a Prostitute.  It's the Virgin/Whore Dichotomy paired up with the 'Evil Temptress' trope, and It's one of the most misogynistic aspects of modern society.

And I don't care what his "reasons" are, they still don't give him the right to act like an angry brat, and no matter what his "reasons" are, I will not be at all sympathetic to anything that happens until he apologizes and admits he was wrong.

Especially considering I'm betting his "reasons" amount to "Waahhh, an Evil Woman Prostitute seduced my poor innocent responsible father and made him and my mother divorce and Waahhh" which is a crock of shit because it ends up blaming the Woman for the Father's Actions when the Woman was literally just doing her job.

But here I am trying to make some semblance of sense of a misogynist's beliefs.
