Dance in the Vampire Bund

Mina is no longer in enemy hands, although the fact that she is with Angie at the moment is not reassuring, since he works for Telomere. Presumably they are interested in this place Angie and Mina have ended up in. Akira is (ostensibly) dying, having forced Mina to feed from him while she was unconscious, in order to save her life. It seems at some point in the past werewolves were genetically altered so that the infection from a vampire bite kills them instead of turning them into werewolf/vampire hybrids. Of course, they went into a nice historical segment on how powerful those hybrids were and why they can't be created any more right after Akira passed out, so one suspects that it may not be true in his case. Somehow. There seems to be yet ANOTHER party involved, who rescued Nanami after she was knocked from the catwalk three volumes ago, and who she has been working with ever since. It's unclear what they want, but apparently they DON'T want Rozenmann to have Mina, so that's a plus. And to top it off, Mina appears to have found the first kingdom of the vampires, buried under Rozenmann's castle, has entered the palace there (it recognized her as a true-blooded vampire, so whatever Telomere says, Mina has the right of rule), and found a woman there who may, in fact, be the mother of all vampires.

During Ivanovic's invasion, the real hime ordered Yuzuru to push Nanami off a really high platform after she got infected by Pied Piper and she was going to cause a nuclear meltdown (Nanami's death was implicit). Yuzuru then disappeared and was later seen with Rozenamnn's troops during hime's recapture.

Vampire lord of Russia (Ivanovic) attacks the bund. During the process hime gets replaced by a look-a-like who is the mastermind behind the attack. The real hime ends up in the hands of the Caucasian vampire lord (Rozenmann). Fake hime kills Ivanovic and sends the Beowulfs (except Akira) and Vera to Russia to mop up remaining russian vampire loyalists who are being backed up by Chinese vampire lord (Li). Li also sends vampires to cause trouble in Japan but fake hime does little to stop it. Only Yuki managed to figure out fake hime but was apprehended by her under the pretense of being a suspect of the nano-machine incident after her warning email was intercepted. Meanwhile, Hime escapes from Rozenmann but gets recaptured after making brief contact with Akira (although she only managed to call his name).
