Btw I finished watching the anime. It was weird and awkward at the beginning, and the art is still awkward at the end, but the story was quite interesting. I look forward to the second season.

Personally I only know little about AKB but I started watching it because of the big names attach to this. The director is Kawamori Shouji who's the creator of Macross and Aquarion, and I enjoyed Mari Okada's script for Ano Hana and Toradora, and it's from Satelight which do amazing scenery. I was expecting some typical moe/K-on crap but it turned out pretty....good to my surprise. It's actually not moe despite the cute art. I would say the genre is shoujo with shounen elements that won't bored anyone out. There's alot of drama too. It's the kind of anime with outrageous storyline that don't really make sense if you nitpick but the drama is so fun that this became my top 3 anime, beating out Hyoka, the favorite of the season.
Also it made me really interested in AKB. I enjoyed the insert songs which I usually didn't when I watched Idolmaster. Especially Beginner and River <3 I'm really hook on Beginner, especially the amazingly epic PV.
